Interim Dean of Libraries and Research Appointed to Permanent Role

IRVING, Texas (March 30, 2023) — Ron Scrogham, MA, MLS, has served as interim dean of libraries and research in the Cowan-Blakley Memorial Library since October. He will assume the role of dean and director of university libraries and research on April 1.

“It is an honor to serve as dean and director of university libraries and research at the University of Dallas,” Scrogham stated. “I look forward to leading the excellent faculty and staff at the Cowan Blakley Memorial Library as we endeavor to support the educational mission of the university.”

Scrogham holds a master’s in French from the University of Kansas and a master’s in library science from Emporia State University. After joining the university in 2019, Scrogham served as the reference and serials librarian before his appointment to the interim deanship last October. A former high school teacher and librarian, Scrogham has also served as an adjunct professor of French in the UD Modern Languages Department.

“I am very pleased that Mr. Scrogham has accepted the position of dean and director of University libraries and research,” said UD Provost Matthias Vorwerk, Ph.D.

“He emerged as the strongest candidate in a competitive national search and impressed in particular with a very fine presentation on the role of the library at a Catholic liberal arts university. Mr. Scrogham has proven his administrative talents as interim dean over the past half year and enjoys the respect and appreciation of the library faculty and staff.”
