The University of Dallas’ Satish & Yasmin Gupta College of Business has announced the appointment of two associate deans: Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Susan Rhame and Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs Greg Bell.

“Dr. Rhame and Dr. Bell have been outstanding professors, scholars and colleagues, and the college will benefit greatly from their leadership and vision,” Interim Dean and Associate Professor Brett J. L. Landry said. “Both embody the scholar-practitioner concept and contribute significantly to our efforts of becoming a first-choice institution for practice-oriented business education.”

In 2008, Rhame joined the college of business accounting faculty. She was promoted to associate professor in 2015.

Rhame earned a doctorate in accounting from the University of Texas at Arlington (UT Arlington), her master’s degree from Louisiana State University (LSU) and her undergraduate degree from Mississippi State University. After completing her degree at LSU and becoming a certified public accountant, Rhame worked at Arthur Young & Co. (now Ernst & Young) in its Dallas office tax department.

In addition to the University of Dallas, Rhame has taught accounting at several other institutions, including LSU, UT Arlington, Collin College and Austin College. For the Satish & Yasmin Gupta College of Business, Rhame teaches accounting research methods, financial statement analysis and intermediate financial accounting. Her research interests include tax equity, ethics, online pedagogy and retirement planning.

Rhame is a member of both the American Accounting Association and the Texas Society of CPAs. She also serves on the board of directors for the Institute for Management Accountants.

Bell earned a doctorate in strategic management from UT Arlington. He serves as associate professor in the Satish & Yasmin Gupta College of Business, teaching courses in sustainability and corporate strategy.

After obtaining a master of business administration (MBA) in finance from the University of North Texas in 1992, he joined Fidelity Investments, where he stayed for over 12 years. After working in the financial sector, Bell transitioned into teaching. In addition to the University of Dallas, he’s taught courses in international and corporate finance at Dallas Baptist University and corporate strategy at UT Arlington.

Bell’s research on corporate governance and international business has been published in leading management and entrepreneurship journals including the Academy of Management Journal, Journal of International Business Studies, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice and more.

Since joining the University of Dallas, Bell has also helped develop the Sustainable Business Network, the Entrepreneurship Society and the Executives on Campus programs.
