Now, while Halloween is on most everybody’s mind as we await those pesky trick or treaters come Monday, there are several must-see, highly-anticipated UD events this week.

A collaborative effort between Early Matters Dallas and the Braniff Graduate School of Liberal Arts, sponsored by The Moody Foundation, the annual McDermott Lecture features Gen. Colin L. Powell, USA (Ret.).Tickets for this event are already SOLD OUT, so for those who’ve registered to attend, be sure to arrive early to the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center this Tuesday, which begins promptly at 8 p.m. When you arrive, stop by the UD check-in table in the Main Lobby to claim your reservation first.

On Wednesday enjoy an evening of sacred and secular work from across musical periods during a UD Chorale Concert & Reception from 7-9 p.m. in Haggar Dining Room. Let your ears be serenaded as the student ensemble performs.

And, finally, this semester’s Braniff Salon is Friday from 6-8:30 p.m. in the Art History Auditorium. In celebration of 50 years of graduate education at UD, Braniff Graduate School presents “Personal Responsibility & The Common Good: Our Liberal Arts Education and the Social Teaching of the Church.” The evening will begin with a reception at 6 p.m., the panel discussion from Braniff faculty will take place at 7 p.m., and at 8:30 p.m. the conversation will continue with coffee and dessert. Braniff faculty will explore the relationship between our university’s liberal arts education and Catholic social teaching This year’s panelist include Aida Ramos, assistant professor of economics; Irene Alexander, assistant professor of theology; Jonathan J. Sanford, dean of Constantin College; and Richard Dougherty, associate professor of politics. Alumni, students, faculty and members of the UD community are all invited.
