Whether you’re a visiting high school senior here for Odyssey Days, our two-day campus experience during which students get a taste of life at UD, or just thinking of visiting our Irving campus, there are a number of stops you won’t want to miss out on.
Preview the Rome Experience with a visit to the Cap Bar in the Haggar University Center. A highlight for first-time campus visitors, and a popular hangout for students, alumni and the rest of the UD community, the Cap Bar offers a cozy, relaxing environment to do homework, meet with study groups or chat with friends between or after classes. After ordering your drink of choice, check out the Rome photo gallery in front of the university bookstore.
Don’t miss Associate Professor of English Andrew Osborn as he presents UD’s nationally renowned Rome Program. Osborn will walk you through everything from your first day arriving on our Eugene Constantin Campus just outside of Rome, Italy, as a UD sophomore, to your first trip to the Vatican and more. Learn why our Rome Program is so ingrained in UD’s tradition and is a necessary part of our Core curriculum.
Walk up nearly 200 feet to get a bird's eye view of the entire campus. Braniff Memorial Tower stands on the south side of campus and was designed by the father of Southwest architecture O’Neil Ford. Inside, at the top of the Tower, are four bronze bells, which were named after Saints Columba, Agatha, Catherine of Alexandria, and Andrew.
The not-quite-one-year-old SB Hall is the university’s home for our acclaimed Satish & Yasmin Gupta College of Business. Venture up to the third floor to check out our state-of-the-art board room. If you can, take a step out onto the balcony overlooking Las Colinas and the Dallas skyline. It also offers a bird's eye view view of UD from the north side of campus.
Escape into a wooded retreat in one of the nation’s most populated metropolitan areas. Enjoy reading a good book under our beautiful oak trees, and see if you can spot Aslan the lion. While you’re here, make sure to stop by one of our student or faculty art exhibits in the Art History Building, or visit a wide-range of studio experiences elsewhere in the Art Village.
