UD Grieves the Passing of Dr. Catherine Caesar

In Memoriam: Monday, Nov. 28

It is with great sadness that we share the terrible news that Dr. Catherine Caesar passed away on Saturday.

Cathy was a much beloved professor of Art History in the Art Department, and began her service with the University of Dallas in 2003. She also served as the Chair of the Art Department at different times during her tenure at UD, and made significant contributions to our Rome program. Many over the years have benefitted from her deeply personal and caring approach to sharing her joy and enthusiasm for works of art, her attention to detail and her devotion to cultivating genuine learning in her students.

Cathy was a gifted teacher, a wonderful colleague, a sincere and generous collaborator, a devoted mother and a dear friend to many of us.

Cathy's family has asked that we share the following memorial services with our community. A memorial service will be held at the Lucas Funeral Home in Grapevine, Texas, at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi in Grapevine at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 7. All are welcome at the services.

The family has also asked that, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the University of Dallas Art Department. (Simply designate the "Art Department Fund" when making a donation in Cathy's honor here.)

Please, join us in praying for Cathy's soul and for the consolation of her family.
