Dallas Business Journal Recognizes Board Chairman as Outstanding Director

University of Dallas Board of Trustees Chairman Joseph C. Murphy was recently selected by a panel of independent judges from the National Association of Corporate Directors as one of 10 North Texas leaders for the Dallas Business Journal’s 2016 Outstanding Directors Awards. The award recognizes individuals “who have demonstrated the vital leadership and business savvy necessary to help guide their businesses successfully.”

“I proudly accept this honor and award, not only for myself, but also for the entire University of Dallas Board of Trustees,” said Murphy. “We have a wonderful board made up of men and women who continue to devote their time, talent and treasure to make our university the great center of learning it is today.”

Murphy became an active board member in 2009. He retired after a 38-year career in public accounting during which he served as a client service partner, as well as in a number of other leadership roles, for PricewaterhouseCoopers, the world’s largest professional services firm.

He continues to be a champion of civic, community and charitable involvement, serving on a number of boards at educational institutions, hospitals and economic development task forces. Currently, Murphy serves on the boards of the Catholic Foundation of Dallas, Our Lady of Perpetual Help School in Dallas and Bishop Dunne High School. For the last three years, he has also served as a member of the executive committee of the Bishop’s Committee for Excellence in Catholic Schools.

“We couldn’t be more excited for Joe and the board’s many accomplishments under his impressive leadership,” said President Thomas W. Keefe. “This award aptly recognizes his keen ability to lead our academic institution through great change with continued success.”
