The following is a message from Trustee Richard Husseini, J.D., BS '88, chair of the presidential search committee.
It is my distinct honor and privilege to chair the presidential search committee for the next UD President. As I prepare for this task, I keep coming back to UD’s motto: Veritatem, Justitiam Diligite (loosely translated, Love Ye Truth and Justice). This simple and elegant phrase captures perfectly all UD aspires to be. Our unabashedly Catholic character. Our timeless undergraduate Core curriculum. Our outstanding professional graduate programs. Our faculty renowned for its teaching and scholarship. Our rigorous academic programs across disciplines ranging from humanities and fine arts to sciences to business to ministry.
As an alumnus and a trustee, I feel a passion for UD that I know our entire community shares. We are a special place, and each of us wants to do his or her part to ensure UD reaches its full potential in pursuit of its educational mission. I approach my job as chair of the search committee with this ideal in mind.
As our search committee begins its work, we seek input from all members of the UD community. To that end, we have created a webpage,
udallas.edu/presidential- search, where you can provide your input to the search committee. Please visit this site and share the priorities you believe our next President should pursue, the traits you believe our next President should possess, and/or any candidate nominations you would like to recommend. Please provide feedback to us as soon as you can so that we may take it into account on a timely basis. The search committee will keep in strict confidence all comments shared with us. We will also post occasional updates to the site noting our progress and sharing announcements.
Our search committee members are excited and optimistic but also cognizant of our serious and challenging work ahead. Please pray for the members of the search committee to exercise wisdom and good judgment in pursuit of our task, and please also pray for the success of the search and the entire UD community.
For the love of UD,
Richard Husseini
