University Announces New Assistant Vice President for Development

The University of Dallas is pleased to announce the appointment of Kris Muñoz Vetter as assistant vice president for development. In this role, she will report to Jason Wu Trujillo, vice president for university advancement, and be responsible for UD’s major gifts, planned giving and foundation relations programs.

Muñoz Vetter brings nearly two decades of fundraising experience to her role. She started her career in planned giving at the University of Texas at Austin and rose through the ranks to become assistant dean for development and external affairs in UT’s School of Architecture. She spent the next 10 years of her career at Southern Methodist University, culminating in her role as executive director for principal gifts, where she supervised a team of 12 development staff. Muñoz Vetter also served as the associate vice president for development and alumni relations at the University of Texas at Arlington, and most recently as executive director of Year Up in Dallas/Fort Worth.

“I am honored to join the University of Dallas at this auspicious moment in its history under President Hibbs’ exciting leadership,” said Muñoz Vetter. “I look forward to working alongside the outstanding faculty and staff and committed alumni and parents to advance UD’s mission as a premiere Catholic institution of higher education.”

Muñoz Vetter was in the inaugural class of the University of Texas at Austin’s Liberal Arts Honors Program. There she obtained a bachelor’s degree in architecture and a second bachelor’s in art history. She attended graduate school at the University of Chicago and earned an M.A. in art history. Finally, Muñoz Vetter completed her coursework for a Ph.D. program in art history at the University of Texas at Austin. She has been married for 27 years to Paul Vetter, who recently completed UD coursework as a member of the 2020 diaconate cohort, and they have one son, Noah, who is a sophomore at Cistercian Preparatory School.

“I’m delighted Kris has joined the University Advancement team. Her extensive experience in managing fundraising teams and success in increasing philanthropic revenue are critical to UD’s future,” said Trujillo.
