The three-hour tasting will begin at noon at the chain’s flagship location off Lovers Lane. With the new partnership, any Central Market store is approved as a potential authorized vendor of Due Santi Wines, which increases a growing list of retail offerings throughout Dallas/Fort Worth and the United States.
“We want to show there is a market for these wines, and to celebrate that Due Santi Wines has arrived on a much larger stage,” said alumnus Michael Housewright, BA ’96, an integral member of the Due Santi Wines team. “This is a chance to show the market that University of Dallas alumni mean business, and our product is quite serious.”
Central Market is owned by the privately held San Antonio-based H-E-B Grocery Co., recently named the county’s No. 1 top grocery retailer. A bountiful produce department with unmatched quality and variety, an 80-foot seafood case with selections from throughout the world, hundreds of cheeses, 2,500 wine labels, stupendous specialty grocery aisles with delights from every continent, and a world-class cooking school are among the many features that make the Central Market experience unique.
Over the past year, Due Santi has planted another two acres of wine-producing vineyards, which will increase its annual production from 8,000 bottles to 12,000+ in the next four years. Due Santi Wines are some of the most elegant wines produced in Lazio. They are made with Cabernet and Merlot grapes grown on the University of Dallas' Eugene Constantin Campus, affectionately dubbed "Due Santi," located just outside of Rome, Italy. A portion of the proceeds from every bottle sold supports UD's acclaimed sophomore Rome Program.
