A Record-Setting North Texas Giving Day: UD Raises Most Gifts Among North Texas Universities
After calculating totals from yesterday's North Texas Giving Day (NTGD), the University of Dallas will retain its unofficial title as the most generous university in North Texas. UD ranked first among all colleges and universities, and sixth among nearly 400 schools, for both total funds raised and number of gifts received, thanks to the generosity of our community.

With $338,795 raised from 618 gifts — a dollar amount more than three times last year’s figure — 2020 marks the university’s most successful NTGD yet. Last year, UD raised $101,512 from 431 gifts.

"This year's record-setting achievement is due to the love that our community has for UD, especially Nick Serafy, a member of UD's Board of Trustees; Viveca Serafy; Fanny Sheumaker, BA ’88 MBA ’91, a member of the National Alumni Board; and Phil Sheumaker, BA ’90 MBA ’93, who provided matching funds for this year's effort,” said Vice President for University Advancement Jason Wu Trujillo. “Their match inspired many others to give generously. Many UD students in need will benefit from this outpouring of support."

At the direction of UD President Thomas S. Hibbs, Ph.D., BA ‘82 MA ‘83, undesignated proceeds from this year’s NTGD will be used to support UD’s General Scholarship Fund. This fund provides the university with flexible scholarship dollars that can be awarded to students in need so they can achieve at UD and experience a Catholic liberal arts education that both ennobles and enables.

The Communities Foundation of Texas — the largest community foundation in Texas — first launched NTGD in 2009 to serve as a hub connecting donors with local nonprofits. NTGD is the largest community-wide giving event in the nation.
