I have a new article that has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Economic Psychology. Titled "Sacrifice: An experiment on the political economy of extreme intergroup punishment," the article studies how different individuals behave in politically disadvantaged situations. In this work, my two coauthors and I find evidence that higher-ability individuals are more likely to engage in self-destructive actions to damage undeserved politically advantaged individuals. This result stems from a randomized controlled experiment that accounts for potential strategic self-interest confounds and self-selection effects.
