Associate Professor of English Greg Roper, Ph.D., BA ’84, and Associate Professor of English Andrew Moran, BA ’91 PhD ’04, have co-edited a book to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Rome Program and the 25th anniversary of the Eugene Constantin Campus (aka, of course, Due Santi): Due Santi and the University of Dallas: Un Piccolo Paradiso. With a forward by President Thomas S. Hibbs, Ph.D., BA ’82 MA ’83, the book includes in its 192 pages 80 photographs that capture the color and beauty of Due Santi and features many familiar names, including those of former Rome Program director Wayne Ambler, current Vice President, Dean and Director of the Rome Campus Peter Hatlie, Ph.D., and Professor Emeritus of Art Lyle Novinski. All profits from sales of the book will go to the Charles T. Uhl Rome Scholarship that assists students in defraying the costs of participating in the Rome Program. To boost sales and donations even further, Kathy (Uhl) Milligan, BA ’91 MBA ’95, and Danny Milligan, BA ’91, have pledged to make a $10 donation to this scholarship fund for each book sold, up to $20,000. 

The book ranges from the serious to the silly, from the story of the family who built the villa and a reflection on the curriculum to the vineyard and the G[r]eek Olympics — and much more. 

"In putting together the volume, we wanted to give a sense of the life of Due Santi, all the voices, all the history, the daily routine and the special events, the seriousness of its intellectual and spiritual life as well as its playfulness and joy," said Moran.

The editor at The History Press, Ben Gibson, BA ’06, is also a UD alumnus.
